

Richard Buttenshaw, ARM-P, CIC is the loss control representative for the League's South Alabama members. Originally from England, Richard earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Kingston University in England and was employed by Logica UK, Ltd in London as an Analyst Programmer where he worked with various governmental agencies. He also spent eight years working throughout the United States and the Caribbean in the scuba diving industry. After joining the Loss Control staff in December 2003, he earned his Associate in Risk Management for Public Entities (ARM-P) in 2005 and was subsequently honored with an ARM-P Award for Academic Excellence in 2007, which is presented by the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (AICPCU) and the Insurance Institute of America (IIA) to the graduate with outstanding cumulative grade averages on the examinations in this program. He also received his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation through The National Alliance in 2007. In 2010, Richard achieved the Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and is currently completing the requirements for his Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation. Also in 2010, he graduated 2nd in the Basic Claims Adjuster course offered through the Southern Farm Bureau Tech in
Jackson, Mississippi.
Richard and his wife, Amanda, are avid scuba divers and have traveled to dive sites around the globe. They currently reside in Montgomery.
Myra S. Forrest, CSP, ARM, ALCM, earned a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentrated elective field of Industrial Engineering from Louisiana State University. After graduating in 1988, she was employed by Aetna Life and Casualty as an Engineering Consultant. Myra joined Meadowbrook Insurance Group in 1995 to work as a Safety Consultant for the AMIC program. She joined the League's Loss Control division in 2001 where she provides a variety of loss control services for both AMIC and MWCF members.
Todd McCarley has been a Loss Control Representative for AMIC and MWCF members since December 2003. Prior to joining the League's Loss Control division, he worked with the Prattville Fire Department for 17 years where he earned the rank of Lt. Supervisor. His numerous certifications include: fire inspector, arson investigator, hazardous material technician, confined space rescue, rapid deployment search and rescue and personal watercraft rescue. He also served as an instructor for the Alabama State Fire College.
Will joined the League's Loss Control team in 2008 and is responsible for providing loss control services to a 19-county territory in the central and western regions of the state. Prior to joining the Loss Control Department, Will served 11 years with the Prattville Fire Department where he earned the rank of Sergeant, several citation awards and numerous certifications. In addition, Will is a state certified Paramedic. Since joining the League's staff, he has earned an Associate in Risk Management designation with an emphasis on Public Entities. Will and his wife, Dawn, are members of Hunter Hills Church of Christ and live in Prattville. They have two precious children, Cody and Abby.
Roger Owens, Police Safety Consultant, retired as Deputy Chief of Police from the Montgomery Police Department after more than 24 years of service. After serving one year as the Alabama State Capitol Police Administrator, he joined the Loss Control Division in August 1993. As a Public Safety Consultant, Roger is responsible for traveling to 333 member police departments with liability or workers compensation insurance in an effort to reduce municipal liability and employee injuries. He has also served on the Education Committee for the Alabama Chiefs of Police Association since 2000.
Stanley Fant is the Loss Control team's SkidCar Coordinator. In 1999, Stan retired from the Alabama State Troopers after more than 30 years in law enforcement, including more than 20 years as a highway patrol officer and supervisor. In December 2000, Stan joined the Loss Control staff as the coordinator for the department's popular Proactive Driver Training program. He travels throughout the state training police officers and other municipal employees through the SkidCar training system.
Donna was born in Eufaula, Alabama, and received her degree in Business Administration at James H. Faulkner State Junior College in Bay Minette. She joined the League's Loss Control division in 2001 as a Loss Control Assistant and became the Loss Control Coordinator in 2008. Prior to working with the League, she worked at the Alabama State Trooper Association for six years. Donna and her husband, Scott, have three children and one grandchild. They are members of Coosa Baptist Church. Donna enjoys reading and relaxing at the beach.
Sonya joined the League Staff in June 2003 as a Loss Control Clerk. Prior to joining the League Staff, she worked as a secretary at Victory Baptist School and scoped for a court reporter at home. Sonya and her husband Todd, who also works for the League as a Loss Control Representative and Fire Safety Consultant, have two children, Abby and Clint. As a family, they enjoy camping, boating and spending time together. They are active members at Coosada Baptist Church.
Jennifer joined the League staff in October 2007 as a Loss Control Clerk. Prior to working for the League, she lived in Europe for four years as her husband served 20 years in the United States Air Force. Upon their return to the States, they settled in Alabama where Jennifer chose to be at home with her daughter, Jordynn. In her free time, she enjoys taking care of their two horses, which includes traveling with Jordynn to barrel racing events for the NBHA. She also enjoys running, weightlifting and being outdoors.
Chuck Burns, FATS Coordinator for the Loss Control Department, retired from the AL Department of Public Safety in 2004 with 28 years of service. Upon retirement, he held the rank of Trooper Captain, serving as Chief Examiner for the Driver License Division. Chuck also spent several years with the Highway Patrol Division and in commercial vehicle enforcement with the Motor Carrier Safety Unit.
